"With the development of diagnostic and treatment methods, we are capturing tumors in smaller and smaller sizes. The Mozart device can evaluate the specimen that is removed with the tumor by showing the size of the edges of the resected (removed tumor). It therefore enables accurate diagnosis in the operating room even for the smallest, still unpalpable tumors," explains MUDr. Jan Beneš from the Department of Surgery.
"The České Budějovice Hospital and Department of Surgery responds to the need to treat breast cancer, because this issue is very important and breast cancer is the most common malignant disease in women. Approximately 350 women are operated on here annually," adds the head of the Department of Surgery, MUDr. Petr Pták, Ph.D.
Within the South Bohemian Region, Nemocnice České Budějovice, as is the first hospital to have this innovation.
